Ever wondered what it's like to be a beekeeper? Learn from Emily Rose: Ontario Beekeepers' Association (OBA) Vice President, and owner of Emily Rose Apiaries - a local beekeeping operation. With over 7 years of commercial beekeeping experience, she will take you on a deep dive into all aspects of beekeeping to prepare you for getting started in this rewarding hobby.
These seminars are presented as a two part series. Each talk consists of two hours of lecture time, with a 30 min Q&A at the halfway point. Introduction to Beekeeping I is designed for those with little to no prior beekeeping experience. Topics will include how to get started in beekeeping, hive management through the year, laws related to keeping bees in Ontario, and more. Tickets include a take-home supplementary booklet designed to accompany the course material.
The follow-up seminar, held on March 28th from 6:00pm - 8:30pm is designed for those who have taken Introduction to Beekeeping I, or those with prior beekeeping experience. We will be discussing intermediate topics, including: common queen problems, making splits, detailed pest and disease management, and more. Tickets include a take-home supplementary booklet designed to accompany the course material.
The ticket price is just $40 for one seminar, or $70 for both, plus hst. Discounts are available for large groups and attendees under 18. Contact us for more details on specialty pricing.
